This is a composite painting. A pair of ducks have been visiting the pool. A friend asked me to paint them on the wall between pool and hot tub, facing each other, him standing up, her sitting down. Oh, without too much of the deck showing. Challenge accepted! Naturally, the ducks were not about to pose. So, I took photos of the pool. When they came to visit I snapped individual photos of them. She stood on the wall for photos, but facing the wrong way, so I had to reverse her photo and paint her sitting down. He left the pool area and was wandering around, mostly in shade, so I had to study him carefully to make sure I had his colors. Finally, I brought the trees in the back of the property forward while blurring them into the background. It was certainly a challenge!
